Terms & Conditions

Location of Sessions

Assessments and therapy sessions are provided in the child’s home or other appropriate setting, for example their school or nursery. Visits can also be arranged to nursery or school to set up communication programmes.

Geographical Area Covered

Therapy can be delivered to homes and schools in Essex, East Suffolk and surrounding areas.

Hours of Service Delivery

Appointments are available Monday to Friday between 9.30am and 4.00pm.

Sessions outside these times can be arranged upon discussion.

Services & Fees

Charges are based upon national guidelines for the profession.

They include time spent outside of the consultation in travel

(up to 30 minutes each way), session planning, preparation of therapy materials, writing of case notes, and telephone calls of less than

15 minutes duration.

Initial Assessment                                                              £120

Including detailed case history, assessment of speech,

language and communication skills or assessment of eating

and drinking skills, and a written report detailing

the child’s communication skills and therapy needs.

Therapy and Follow up Sessions (up to 1 hour )                £65

Including discussion with carer/school staff following

the session.

Therapy Programmes and Reports                  £65per hour pro rata

Visits to discuss and demonstrate programme

activities and subsequently to review progress will be

charged at the follow up session rate.

Once the initial assessment is completed the outcome and recommendations will be discussed with parents. Copies of reports will be distributed to other involved professionals with parental consent.

If following assessment therapy is recommended parents have the right to choose whether or not to commit to further input.

If the child is on the caseload of an NHS Speech and Language Therapist good practice indicates that both she and the private Therapist should be informed by the parents of the others' involvement. The child’s speech and language needs are best met when both professionals undertake to liaise with each other.

Payment of Fees

Fees are to be paid by cheque, cash or bank transfer (BACS) at the end of each session. Receipts can be provided on request.

For medico-legal work arrangements for the payment of fees will be agreed with

the child’s case manager.

Cancellation of Appointments

Appointments cancelled with less than 24hours notice will still be charged.

In the case of the child’s ill health, every attempt will be made to reschedule the appointment.

If the child is due to be seen at a school or nursery, it is the parents’ responsibility to inform the Therapist that the child will not be in school.

If the Therapist is unwell the appointment will be rescheduled as soon as possible.

Travelling Expenses

Where the journey time exceeds the 30minutes each way included in the session fee a charge will be made for the excess minutes spent travelling and for mileage.

Excess travel time will be charged at the sessional rate of £65 per hour pro rata for time spent travelling over and above the time included. Mileage will be charged at 45p per mile.

Parental Involvement

Any intervention programme will be more effective when parents play an active role. The Therapist will provide ideas and activities for parents/carers/school to carry out between therapy sessions. By being present during therapy sessions parents are able to observe how these activities should be carried out.                      

Parents are requested to provide a distraction-free environment for therapy sessions, without television, pets etc.

Non Payment of Fees

If payment is not received on the day of the appointment, or within 14 days of the date of the invoice, sessions may be suspended until payment is received.
